I'm going to re-blog myself. Sometimes I'll publish something on my blogger.com outside blog and then modify it to post here, or vice versa. This time, I'm republishing a post from Monday, "Why Does Everyone Have Their Hand Out?" This doesn't need any revision so it runs again as is.
What is it with this collective welfare mentality that American business is now exhibiting and that Congress is complicit in establishing?
I thought we operated under the free enterprise system.
Congress is giving away money at a faster clip than the Florida Gators football team can put points on the board - and that's fast.
Let the builders who can't make it fail. Let the businesses large or small that aren't being run properly fail. Let AIG, Freddy Mac, Fannie Mae, GM, Ford, Chrysler, et al., fail if the only way they can survive is by government intervention.
No one is owed a job or a business opportunity. We have to make our own way and show some responsibility.
No business is owed success - only the pursuit of it - the opportunity to compete fairly. It's up to those who run the business to make a go of it.
Forget about separating government from religious. Let's get it out of commerce.
I do feel badly for those displaced by business excesses that will lead to their downfall - but this is a great opportunity for many of them to create new businesses and new jobs.
We are Americans. Let's show the world that our system works.
