In the chess game of life, which piece are we?

In the chess game of life, have we ever asked ourselves what role we play and what direction we have carved out for ourselves? Are we in control of our moves or is someone else in charge of the board?

Are we rooks that can only go forward and back or sideways in a straightline? And even then have to have a clear path before anything can happen.

Are we pawns that can only move a limited amount at a time?

If we're pawns because we like to take life cautiously, do we like that role? Remember that the pawns are on the front line. That could be exciting or it could be dangerous - depending on the outcome.

Pawns don't always make the most strategic moves and as such are expendable. There are more pawns in the game than anything else. Does that tell us something?

Don't like being a pawn or a rook or anything other than the most versatile or powerful game piece? That's OK, we can aspire to that, and we change.

Unlike chess, which is a board game, this is life - this is real. In many ways, we can control our own life outcome through our choices and attitude. Don't like our current direction? Change it. We're not limited to just moving one or two spaces at a time or staying within prescribed boundaries. We can made radical changes if we like.
