I saw this yesterday in just one place. I didn't see it on any on the major news channels. I didn't hear President Obama mention this in his radio address even though he paid tribute to the military in his remarks. Seems like this would have gotten a mention.
Yesterday, America lost a superhero that frankly not many people knew about. I was not familiar with his story.
Let's change that. Let's remember Robert Howard of Texas.
He was the only person in US history to be nominated for the Medal of Honor 3 times! A person can only be awarded it once, but three times his actions warranted the nomination.
He served 5 tours of duty as a Green Beret in Vietnam. He was wounded 14 times in 4½ years of combat, for which he received 8 Purple hearts.
President Nixon awarded Howard the Medal of Honor in 1971 after his second nomination. He received the Distinguished Service Cross and the Silver Star after his other two nominations.
Thank you Robert Howard for your service and dedication. America has lost a patriot.
