I was thinking last night as the space shuttle Endeavor blasted into the full moon lit, clear Florida nighttime sky how fortunate we are to live where we can see the launch and be a part of it. I know there are many Rainers who live closer to the Cape than we do and had a better view - still it was spectacular. What's even more remarkable is that we usually can't see the daytime launches because of clouds or the launch trajectory. Last night was beautiful. We followed it until it disappeared behind the treeline - estimated to be somewhere over Europe by then.
All of us have neat happenings in our area that we can claim that makes it special. They are too numerous to mention, and as soon as I start a list, I'll unintentionally leave someone out. It might be a natural formation, sporting event, attraction, theme park, entertainment, festival, seasonal event, historical building or event, or so many other noteworthy features.
And let's not forget that Florida has Disney, Daytona, citrus, spring baseball, and so much else - even the best winter weather in the country. :)
