Expand Your Business Reach With Accessibility

Beginning tomorrow, I am teaching the final CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) designation program of the year, but plenty more are scheduled for next year. This is a 3-day program (one course each day) although they don't necessarrily need to be taken all at once. I do recommend it though.

As we enter the closing days of 2011 (62 to go), think about how understanding the needs of normal aging - ourselves, our parents, or our customers - or adapting living spaces for people with special physical, mobility, or cognitive needs might strenthen your real estate business or give you a new arena into which to grow.

The CAPS program is presented by the NAHB in cooperation with AARP and is principally designed to accommodate the needs of seniors; however, through universal design and other concepts, most anyone can and will benefit from the improvements we discuss.

I do offer these courses by request in other markets, but West Palm Beach is where I have offered most of them this year - with people attending from Canada, Puerto Rico, the northeast, the midwest, throughout Florida, and many other areas.

Give me a call or email me to explore how this program might benefit you and your business.

How To Market, Design, Build, Or Remodel Your New Or Existing Home for Accessibility

How To Market, Design, Build, Or Remodel Your New Or Existing Home for Accessibility

There is a lot of interest from remodelers, home builders, health care professionals, architects, interior designers, caregivers, homeowners, people in the construction trades, and medical supply firms on how to effectively market to people who want to remain in their current homes as long as they like or for those who might have special mobility, cognitive, or sensory needs.

On way to learn how to market, design, build, or remodel a new or existing home for accessibilty and to meet the needs of an aging population is by earning the CAPS designation.

The CAPS designation - "Certified Aging in Place" - is part of the courses and workshops that Steve Hoffacker offers each year. It also  is one of the most popular. Steve teaches this three-day program several times a year.
Many of the courses are offered in Boynton Beach, Floirda at the Gold Coast Builders Association (GCBA) and are open to the public. To earn the designation, all three courses must be taken, although some are more interested in the education and just take one oir teo of the courses. Credit is given for certain professional designation in lieu of completing the third course.

The first course (CAPS I) is "Marketing & Communication Strategies for Aging in Place." What a great way to begin learning how to market, design, build, or remodel a new or existing home for accessibilty. Universal design and visitability are two core concepts.

The second course (CAPS II) is "Design/Build Solutions for Aging & Accessibilty." This provides additional information on how to market, design, build, or remodel a new or existing home, including how to work with clients and others in the industry.

The third course is "Business Management for Building Professionals." This provides insight for any business owner or key manager on solid business practices. Holders of certain NAHB designations are exempt from this course although some take it anyway.

This series of courses is generally offered locally every couple of months. Search Steve Hoffacker's Schedule of Courses for upcoming offerings.
