What Is Going On With The Blog Editor?

The past couple of days, I've had to reformat my posts to get them to appear live the way they were created before I hit the "Submit" button.

Now - on both Chrome and Firefox - all of the extra spacing has been eliminated.

When I post a photo, I put in extra spacing before and after the photo. I add spacing before my footer. It looks balanced - until I post it. Then all of the spacing is removed and everything is scrunched into single spacing. It looks like I intended it that way - and I didn't.

I have edited my posts several times - even adding as much as a dozen spaces to see how silly my post would look if it posted that way. Nevermind, it didn't. All of those spaces were nicely removed to single spacing.

What gives?

(Imagine there are 3 spaces before the line and 3 after like there are in my draft.)

So That's A Pummelo

When I logged back in on Active Rain today, the word that I had to type was "pummelo." If you've ever seen that word and been asked to type it, this is what it is - a large grapefruit-like citrus.

We have had them the size of volleyballs, and the rind is often over a ½" thick.

They are mainly a Far Eastern tree and fruit, but they can be found in Florida and California.

Not everyone fits the active rain mold

I think those of us who use Active Rain for regular blogging figure that everyone sees the benefit of it and then participates accordingly. But that assumes a behavior that just simply isn't true.

No where in the startup and sign-on process for opening your Active Rain account does it say that you must blog, that you must do it every so many days, and that your account can be closed for not abiding by this standard.

Some people are very happy to members of the Active Rain community and never blog once. That's OK.

Some blog an introduction of themselves and then disappear from the blogosphere (or maybe they are content just to comment).

Some wait months to get started (I did).

Active Rain is such a large network with so many different features that it has many different levels of appeal. For some, blogging is just not something they want to do. We should accept that.

We can encourage people to blog who express a reluctance in getting started by say that they want to, but there's no reason to try to convince someone that they should be blogging if they really don't want to do it.

And what's a reasonable frequency for the average blogger on AR? I blog daily, and many others do as well. However, once a week or twice a week may suit someone's needs very well. That's OK. Maybe even once a month.

Then, there's a sheer numbers game. Do you realize that at approximately 130,000 members that if everyone just posted once a week that this would be over 18,500 posts a day? And we can only comment on 10 for points? And we wonder why we get proxy errors!
