Stepping Into 2012

No matter what type of year 2011 was for us — good, bad, or so-so — and whether it had more happiness or more sadness than we had planned or desired, one thing is clear. We left it behind yesterday and are embarking on a new journey called 2012.

Embarking has a good sound to it. We embark on an adventure. We embark on a cruise. It means to get underway. So definitely, we are embarking on a new year with new opportunities.

We will soon forget all about 2011. It happened, and it is over.

Outwardly, hardly anything may change — same wardrobe, same car, same, office, same home, same neighbors. Inwardly, our attitude can change for the better. Our desire to succeed can be stronger. We can recommit ourselves to doing what we know how to do or what needs to be done to prevail.

We can’t control much of what happens outside ourselves — traffic delays, discourteous people we have to deal with, bumps and bruises and small cuts, shopping for something and finding it out of stock or discontinued, appliances breaking or needing replaced, and other events that comprise life. However, we can control how we respond to them. It’s our attitude and our outlook, and we are the only ones who can control them.

Let’s have a great journey into 2012.
