2011 December Blogging Challenge - Another New Book For The New Year

I have completed the other book that I mentioned on Tuesday, and I am now accepting pre-orders for it also.

This book "Filling Your Funnel: Building Your Business By Reaching Out To Strangers,"is the companion to the book I told you about on Tuesday ("Mining Your Database: Making More Sales Through People You Already Know"). Both are lead generation handbooks for anyone besides Realtors and new home salespeople who want to gain a competitive edge and produce their own sales leads.

Steve Hoffacker's Sales Books

What better way to kick off 2012 than by seizing control of your sales business and begin talking to people that you see everyday but don't customarily speak to or engage in conversation? These strangers or people known to you only because you see them frequently can mean a huge difference in your business. Meet them, learn about their needs, and develop the relationship.

Some of these people will want to learn more about what you offer, some won't. Some will buy from you, some will recommend their circle of contacts to you. This a virtually limitless pool of people at your disposal.

If you are in commercial real estate, selling membership opportunities for an association, a stager, a mortgage broker, a contractor, a remodeler, a web designer, a consultant, an attorney, a designer, or any other type of non-residential real estate salesperson or professional, this book is for you.

Find out what it takes to be a serious lead generator.

Use the scenarios, scripts, and templates for meeting total strangers - for talking with them in person or calling them on the phone. Send them letters of introduction. Eventually meet them for coffee.

Learn how to do what your competitors aren't willing to do or don't know how to do.

2011 December Blogging Challenge - "Watch Out For Streaks"

Steve Hoffacker's Photos

Streaks are pretty to look at in the sky - clouds, vapor trails, and birds or planes making beautiful, interesting lines aross the giant blue canvas.

However, streaks are not welcome at all when we are painting or applying finishes.

Streaks also aren't desired when we look at our performanace. No one likes inconsistent accomplishments.

Therefore, we vow to be much more consistent rather than streaky for the new year.

2011 December Blogging Challenge - "Working At A Reasonable Pace"

Life easily can become a blurr if we aren't focused or don't pay attention to the details at hand. If we try to do too much or do it too quickly, something will get overlooked or not done properly. We will find that our batteries will wear down faster than normal. We must pace ourselves to accomplish a big workload effectively without exhaustion.

2011 December Blogging Challenge - A New Book For The New Year

I have completed another book and am now accepting pre-orders for it.

The book "Mining Your Database: Making More Sales Through People You Already Know" is a lead generation handbook for anyone besides Realtors and new home salespeople who want to gain a competitive edge and produce their own sales leads.

Steve Hoffacker's Sales Books

Why not start off 2012 by taking control of your sales business and begin contacting your circle of contacts strategically to learn which can use your products or services and which can introduce to people in their circles?

If you are in commercial real estate, selling membership opportunities for an association, a stager, a mortgage broker, a contractor, a remodeler, a web designer, a consultant, an attorney, a designer, or any other type of non-residential real estate salesperson or professional, this book is for you.

Find out what it takes to be a lead generator.

Use the scenarios, scripts, and templates for talking with people in person, calling them on the phone, taking their phone calls, meeting them over coffee, sending them cards and letters, and even using texting and email to learn if they are aware of what you are doing (have you ever told them?), could possibly use what you are offering, and can lead you to people who may have a need for what you offer.

The companion to this book which deals with meeting people you don't already know and developing those relationships will be availble in the next few days also.

2011 December Blogging Challenge - Celebrate

As we come to the end of 2011, we come to the time of the year when we focus on celebrations — Hanukah, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve.

This is a powerful time of year. It’s a mental and emotional vacation for us. We’ve worked most of the year — with an occasional day off, vacation, holiday, or weekend, but this is a time to seriously unwind a bit before tackling the new year.

We get together with family and friends. We reminisce over the good times — and maybe not so good times — and focus on the celebration. We made it through another year. There are some things we really are happy about. There are some things for which we’d like a mulligan. But here we are, and in another week we get a fresh start at a brand new year.

Friendships and associations are important to us. We buy gifts — even if they are simple (remember it’s the thought that counts). We buy and mail cards or send email notes. This is part of the celebration — remembering people important to us and sharing the season with them.

We may have had some struggles or detours along the way — some people more than others, and some events more significant or challenging than others — but we have come to this point on the calendar where we can look back and survey the year we’ve traveled through.

We met new people, we shared experiences, we learned new things, we supplemented and stretched our capabilities to be able to perform even better, we made sales, we provided solutions, we laughed, we had sad times, we had disappointments, and we had joys. It is this total package that we call 2011 that we are celebrating now.

Soon 2011 will be “last year” but while we are still living it, let’s embrace the really good times we had this year and celebrate them. Even if those times weren’t as numerous or good as we were expecting, they still are worth remembering and celebrating.

In another week we’ll pop the cork for the new year and celebrate the opportunities that lie in front of us.

As we take a few days off to regroup before the new year, let’s celebrate where we are and where we’re going into 2012.

2011 December Blogging Challenge - Moving To The Clouds

With the iPhone, box.net, dropbox.com, SkyDrive, CRMs, Google, Carbonite, and other platforms, I am really liking the cloud experience and plan on using it more. I think there will be applications available for us to connect with people and access and share data virtually as we move into 2012.

2011 December Blogging Challenge - Keeping Up With Legislation

What NAHB and NAR should be doing for us, they aren't. They have missed a big one here. We had to find out about this one on our own.

Where's all the lobbying when we need it?

The so-called "payroll tax bill" as it's presently constituted contains a financing provision that exacts a $17 per month fee on all new mortgages and refis beginning January 1st. That just might make a little difference to buyers, don't you think?

At $7 per $1,000 of mortgage financing, this means that roughly $2,500 in purchasing value is being eroded as a tax and will not go toward the purchase price of a home but into the servicing of the mortgage.

Clearly some noise should have been raised about this, and this provision should have been withdrawn.

How many times a week do we hear our leaders and the media say that we need to stimulate housing? This certainly does it - not!

The GOP-led House may dump this provision. Otherwise, we will have a new tax - not one that affects everyone, but an unnecessary one and one that affects enough people - us included who are on the selling side.

Let's speak up since our lobbyists aren't.
