2009 will bring changes

Obviously, 2009 will bring changes.

There's going to be new opportunities for business and new people to meet and work with.

We will have some issues to deal with as well (personal, business, emotional, financial, health, family). Hopefully we will all be able to handle them.

On the lighter side, today is the last day we can write 2008 in the present tense. This is probably the most immediate change we will notice going into 2009.

So here's my challenge. How long can we go into 2009 before we slip up and write "2008" just from habit?

We've had a year of practice writing 2008 so now we have to retrain ourselves. We have to intentionally write 2009 until it becomes habit.

I know I'm going to mess up - sooner rather than later - how about you?

Ready or not, here we go

Ready or not, here we go. 2008 is over. Here were go into 2009.

It doesn't matter whether we're ready or not. It doesn't matter if we want it to happen or not. It doesn't matter if we finished our resolutions or goals.

2009 arrives in about 30 hours.

Most of us probably are looking forward to 2009 and aren't too sorry to see 2008 fade away. 2008 has had some memorable moments. It's had some disappointments. Most years do.

However, here we go into 2009. Clean slate, new opportunities, rid of some of the issues of 2008.

Hang on!

Beginning those "last" days

Today is the last Thursday of 2008. Tomorrow is the last Friday, and on through next Wednesday.

That's always a bittersweet feeling. 2008 - with all of its up and downs is coming to an end and we hate to say goodbye to it - as if we had a choice. But then, 2009 is coming - a blank slate, full of possibilities and dreams and unfulfilled goals to achieve.

While it's tempting to want to hold onto the past, it's empowering to forge on into the future and tackle the challenges and success that await us there.

Enjoy the waning days of 2008, but look ahead with great anticipation to 2009.
