Steve Hoffacker's Sales Quips

I posted earlier in the week about the "Sorry, that content is protected" message - whatever that means.

Many people were experiencing this meddlesome message - some more than others. It was reported to have gone away. At any rate it is back more than ever.

It is on this post that I am writing now, even as I am composing it - funny that my content is protected before there even is content. Now, that's proactive protection!

It is annoying and even nonsensical. Consider what it could possibly mean at the top of my groups page:

This may not qualify as an official Super Bowl ad since it was run tonight and obviously didn't take near the money to produce or run - or the zany behavior - that many of them will on Sunday, but it's a quality Super Bowl ad anyway.

It was just the product and a voice over. No actors, no chases, no agenda, no special effects. Nevertheless, Burger King says that everyone gets "rings" this weekend - onion rings - as a play on the fact that the winning team gets an expensive unique winner's ring loaded with diamonds.

Tomorrow and Sunday, onion rings are free at Burger King to unveil what they say is their new taste.

Let's get our rings and decide just how good they are. The price is right.

After Sunday's Super Bowl game, we will only have to wait a month for more football - not long at all.

The AFL - Arena Football - starts its 25th, Silver Anniversary season on Friday, March 9 for a 20-week season. Each team will play 18 games with 2 bye weeks.

It's not the same as the NFL - but it's not supposed to be.

It is, nevertheless, professioanl football with plenty of blocking, hard hitting, passing, and high scoring contests.

Then, there's the NFL Draft which will be held on April 26th without the dark cloud of a lockout.

Happy Groundhog Day - minus the snow here in South Florida and maybe where you are as well. Can't think of Groundhog Day without recalling the Bill Murray movie of the same name.

Wouldn't it be great to keep repeating something until we got it right? Learning the guitar or the piano, speaking a different language, writing HTML code, playing baseball or softball well enough for scouts to notice, closing nearly all of our sales presentations?

If we could do all of this without one day actually going by, it would be great. The fact is though that time does move on and we have to choose which endeavors we want to tackle and which to focus on. Likewise, which ones to pass up or ignore.

We can only accomplish so much with the time we have. Therefore, we have to have prepared, anticipated, practiced, and rehearsed to be the very best we can today by beginning long before today. We need to decide where we would like to be and start to get there.

There are no do-overs. Only focus, dedication, persistence, and perseverance.

I've run across this message - "Sorry, that content is protected" - a few times the last couple of days when I was reading an AR post. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's a "Members Only" or makerd for "Reblog." It's not on every post - just some. I even had it appear on one of my posts yesterday that I was editting.

Here's what appears at the top of the post just over the title:

Anyone know what this is, what it means, and why it's appearing?
