It took me a while to realize this, but some people will look at a home with no intention of ever buying it. However, we feel that if could just find the right home for them - something no other agent or salesperson has been able to do - that they'll just have to buy from us.
Some common myths: #1 - anyone who takes the time to look at what we are selling is interested in buying something. Not true. There are a lot of recreational lookers who do this for sport.
#2 - the reason someone hasn't bought is because we haven't had a shot at them. While we may get the agreement signed, it won't stick. There are several reasons people don't or won't buy. They may have no interest, no credit, or no ability to pay. They may have no need or desire.
#3 - there's a home out there for everyone. True, but only if they really want a home and can afford it.
#4 - people wouldn't waste their time looking for a home if they weren't interested at least a little. Want to bet?
We need to work with the ones who want help (even if they are scared) and look past those who are wasting our time - and be able to tell the difference.
